Monterubbiano: cultural and environmental museum displays

The Polo Culturale San Francesco hosts the Museo Civico Archeologico, the Biblioteca Comunale ‘Luigi Centanni’, the Centro di Educazione Ambientale ‘Giano’ and an auditorium.

The fulcrum of the museum narrative is represented by the floor sculpture, situated in the second floor corridor leading to the archaeology museum. This sculpture reproduces the route of the River Aso, indicating the most significant archaeological finds.

The Museo Civico Archeologico exhibits finds from the Monterubbiano area and is divided into four rooms, where the items from the Picene and Roman periods found in the area are displayed in chronological order. The museum also has an interactive display, developed particularly for the visually impaired, with Braille information panels and copies of finds designed to be picked up and handled. The last room in the museum is devoted to the exhibition of the coin collection donated to the municipality by Dante Mircoli. The archaeology museum leads into the auditorium, once a church devoted to St Francis.

The Quadreria Comunale is housed in the boardroom of Monterubbiano town hall and features an exhibition of paintings from the 16th and 17th centuries.
