It was probably founded in around the <b>sixth century<\/b> by former citizens of Ascoli who built, among other things, a temple dedicated to the goddess Venus, which some say explains the name \u201c Venarotta\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>In 1237 Venarotta was captured by the armies of Ascoli and lost its freedom.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, Venarotta comprises <b>nine hamlets<\/b> and <b>five groups of houses<\/b>, in which the Medieval past is still very <b>evident<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>Particularly interesting are the <b>San Francesco convent complex<\/b>, built in the twelfth century, the sixteenth-century <b>church of San Pietro<\/b>, and the octagonal church of <b>Madonna del Cardinale<\/b>, built in the sixteenth century.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The settlement of Venarotta is located between the Fluvione and Chiaro river valleys.
